Before you start
- Be a standard Novice with Job Level 10 and Basic Skill level 9.
- The registration fee is 1,000 Zeny, paid at once or in two installments of 500.
The class change is completed once. You can replace an incorrect package. If a lost package or receipt causes a failed assignment, ask Mahnsoo to clear the application, then register and pay again.

Step-by-step walkthrough

Register and note your assignment number
Talk to Chief Mahnsoo, apply to become a Merchant and pay 1,000 Zeny or the first 500-Zeny installment. Note your assigned town and number: Prontera 2485741/2328137; Geffen 2989396/2191737; Morocc 3012685/3487372; Byalan 3318702/3543625.

Collect your package
Talk to Union Staff Kay and choose My Merchant License test. Select your assigned town, enter its assignment number and confirm Positive. An incorrect number produces the wrong package (1091); request a replacement before travelling.

Deliver to the assigned destination
Deliver to Kafra Employee in Prontera, Guild Staff in Geffen, Dyer’s Student in Morocc, or Kafra Employee on Byalan island. Complete the dialogue to receive your receipt.
In the town order listed above, the assignment-number pairs correspond to receipt IDs 1073/1074, 1075/1076, 1077/1078 and 1079/1080, one receipt each. For Byalan, also deliver Mahnsoo's message to receive 3 Bananas and qualify for the additional Zeny reward.

Submit the receipt and change class
Return the receipt to Union Staff Kay, then visit Chief Mahnsoo. Pay the remaining 500 Zeny if you chose installments, and become a Merchant.
Completion rewards
- Become a Merchant.
- Byalan assignments only, after delivering Mahnsoo's message: 3 Bananas (513) from Kafra and 200 Zeny from Mahnsoo when you change class.
